Dr. Smith mentioned that several years ago we met down in Chattanooga in conjunction with the Sword Conference. It was a burden to my heart to start a fellowship among black fundamental preachers.
By the way, it’s not just for the black fundamental preachers. You see it advertised in the SWORD. You call and ask, “Brother, can I come?” Why not? We’re going to Heaven too. Are you going to be there?
I was a black militant just like Louis Farrakkan. In 1961 God saved me, opened my eyes and let me know the problem is not skin, but sin; it’s not race, but grace. The solution is not in the genes, but in the blood of Christ.
I thank the Lord for what I went through in my own personal experience. Back in those days I could not go to Bible college because of the racial situation. I’m down South, from Virginia.
By the way, they took away our state song. It was written by a black man, James O. Bland, who was a slave. They said the reason they took the song away was because it says, “That’s where this old darky’s heart am long to go,” and “Massa.” They called that racism.
Black people were called “darkies” in those days. (You ought to hear what we called each other!) Well, Bland was a slave. He wrote the song, and the state legislature picked it up and made it the state song. I still sing it. It doesn’t bother me at all.
Ladies and gentlemen, you can’t change history to save your life! A lot of people go around with a chip on their shoulder. But I learned from my daddy years ago that if you carry a chip on your shoulder, it’s because there’s a block of wood higher up!
I love coming to North Carolina because my dad and mom were from the Rocky Mount area, a little place called Margaretsville, North Carolina. Dad had only a fourth-grade education, but he had a lot of horse sense, or “stable thinking” as they called it.
Today I’m going to preach about slavery. I want you to know that I’m not an African American. If you want to make me mad, call me that. I’m an American who happens to be black. These people who are coming here from foreign countries and trying to change us, why don’t they just go back from whence they came? This is America! If they don’t like it, then I suggest they leave! And I’ll help them leave.
They talk culture, culture, culture. The Word of God changes culture because it changes people. There are things that I used to do that are culturally acceptable. But I’m saved now!
“Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
“If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
“If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
“If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
“And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
“Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.”—Exod. 21:1–6.
Probably because of debt, a man has sold himself into slavery. He has to stay there for six years. In the seventh year—the year of jubilee—he will be set free. But he says, “I will not go out free.”
What made this man say that?
For one thing, he loves his master because his master loves him. His master provides for him. His master meets every one of his needs. This is voluntary servitude, if you please.
Our nation has a history of people being in slavery. I know there are a bunch of black people to-day, especially young fellows, who have an attitude. God help you! Do you know that God is sovereign and that anything that comes your way, He either allows or directs just to show you what you’re like?
I used to have a bad attitude. Then I got saved. Grandma said, “Boy, if you get a big head on God, He will poke you through the small end of a funnel. You can get through the big end, all right, but you’re going to have trouble getting through the small end.”
Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been through the small end a few times, and I don’t like it. It really hurts. God uses these adversities that we don’t like, even with people we don’t get along with, to show us ourselves.
Everybody lay your hand on top of your head and say along with me: “All my troubles, all my problems and my worst enemy are underneath my hand.”
Who makes you do what you do? If you are not living for God, whose fault is that? Not God’s.
This man willingly volunteered: “My master provides for me. He cares for me. He meets my need. I will not go out free.”
The servant is a type of the Lord Jesus Christ in His pure devotedness to the Father. Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it willingly.
“And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
“And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:
“Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.
“And thou shalt remember….”—Deut. 15:12–15.
You can never give the Gospel to the wrong person. “Brother Earls, what’s it like when you go soul winning in the black community?” Just like it is anyplace else.
“How do you do it?” With fear and trembling, just as you do. I know of good, fundamental churches that are in the inner cities. Thank God for this one. But others have moved out into suburbia and let the inner cities go to Hell. They have left and just neglected the blacks and Hispanics.
We say we love Jesus. We fly a missionary to JFK in New York on his way to Africa and leave more black people sitting in New York City than he will ever meet in Africa in a lifetime.
I’ve been living where I live now for forty-four years. It’s a pretty nice subdivision. There are fundamental, independent Baptist churches all around my area. But not once has a fundamental, independent Baptist church member out soul winning knocked on my door.
You may sit back and chafe at the bit and fuss, but what are you doing about it?
You and I are going to meet God. I’m not responsible for what happened two hundred years ago. I thank God I’m here in America.
Let’s look at history for a minute. Sure, my forefathers came from Africa; but if God had not allowed that to happen and brought them over here, down to the Caribbean and up to the United States, I could still be in the jungle, running around looking for something to eat, while something was looking for me to eat. God caused the wrath of man to praise Him!
Do you know that this is in the Bible: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15)? Do you know what a creature is? Look around you. That’s what we are—a bunch of creatures. We neglect folks because of what? Social pressure, peer pressure?
I tell Dr. George Riddell, “You and I have to stay together. All minorities have to stick together.” He didn’t know he was a minority. Dr. Shelton Smith doesn’t know it either. As far as this world is concerned, you fundamental, independent Baptists are a minority whether you realize it or not. The world hates you. They will be standing on the corner high when they bring your body by. They will be glad when you’re dead, you rascal you! They will be glad to get rid of you, if you live for God.
We have all our needs provided for us in Jesus Christ.
Here we have a servant!
They did call us Black America. I remember when I was “colored.” I was a colored boy. Then I got to be an American Negro. Then I graduated and got to be black; colored, African American—all the same guy.
Somebody asked, “Brother Earls, what should I call you?”
I replied, “Brother Earls would be all right.” Now it’s African American. You can’t say “black” anymore. African American—the top of the road. My shoes are African American. It’s dumb!
Jesus, the Exemplary Servant
Look at John 13, at the One who set the example:
“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
“And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
“Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
“He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.”—John 13:1–4.
Here is the Lord of Glory taking the position of a slave, a servant. He laid aside His garment. He laid aside His glory and became a man. He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin. He bought me out of the slave market. I was a slave to the Devil, and so were you.
Some of you are still slaves—slaves to your own prejudices, ideas and thoughts.
I used to watch fights. I don’t watch them anymore. This black boy and white boy were fighting. You know which one I was rooting for. That white boy was beating that black boy. He hit him everywhere but under the bottom of his feet. I got caught up emotionally. I said, “Get up! Don’t let him beat you like that, boy! Get up!” I think he heard me, because he got up and knocked out the white guy.Then it dawned on me: I’m in the room by myself.
Wait a minute! I am through with fights; I don’t care who’s fighting. I get caught up in that stuff. Don’t tell me you’re not like that. I don’t care what color a guy he is; if he’s in the Olympics and wins the gold and waves Old Glory, I like it—especially if he’s an American and won the gold! Hallelujah! Glory to God! I like that flag. I like that song, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
“After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.”—John 13:5.
This is the Lord of Glory stooping to that level. You can’t wash a fellow’s feet standing over him; you have to get down below him.
“Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
“Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
“Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
“Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
“Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
“For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
“So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
“Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
“If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
“For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”—John 13:6–15.
Notice that “as”—not “what.”
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
“If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”—Vss. 16,17.
We are told in the Word of God, “By love serve one another” (Gal. 5:13). Some of you young preacher boys think you’re so important. You reek with it. I’ll tell you how important you are. Go home and get a five-gallon bucket, fill it with water, stick your hand in the middle of that water and snatch it out quickly. The hole that’s left will tell you how important you are. A servant is all you are or ever will be.
Some of you have your résumé ready, waiting for a vacancy in the Trinity. I have news for you: It’s not going to happen in this world nor in the next. Just roll up your sleeves, go back home, be a servant and do what God has called you to do.
We have here in the Bible the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
“But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant.”—Phil. 2:5–7.
That’s what I’m talking about.
“…and was made in the likeness of men:
“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”—Vss. 7,8.
Several years ago I was so humble that I thought about writing a book: The Ten Most Humble People I Know and How I Taught the Other Nine. Then I changed my mind. My wife let me know how humble I was: “Get in the kitchen and wash the dishes!”
“Are you talking to me?” I asked.
“Yes, I’m talking to you.”
“I don’t have to do that.”
“If you don’t want to eat, it’s all right with me.”
So I washed the dishes.
What’s our problem about being a servant?
I’ve been places, had people introduce me, and my wife has said, “Who are they talking about?”
“About me.”
“They don’t know you like I know you.”
Compliments are like perfume—nice to smell, but don’t swallow it.
It makes no difference whether I impress you or not; the important thing is to serve my Lord and Master.
When you stand before Him, do you want to hear Him say to you, “Well done, chief executive officer”? No, not that, but, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
This is a James Earls interpretation: Anything you want well done, stick in the fire. Has anyone here been in the fire? You say, “I smell something burning. Oh, that’s me!” That’s right. When you stand before Him, He’s going to say, “Well done,” because you’ve been in the fire—the fiery trial.
Peter speaks about that: “Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice…” (I Pet. 4:12,13).
You say, “What? Rejoice? Be exceeding glad? Be happy? Peter, you must have fallen out of a tree and broken your neck raking leaves. You don’t know what I’m going through.”
Take a look at the Scriptures and see what Jesus went through and see how it stacks up. I think about what He did for me. I wasn’t seeking Him; He was seeking me, and He found me.
Go back home and do what God would have you do and forget all this racial stuff.
I saw in the news that Jesse Jackson, with an entourage of liberal preachers, is going to Afghanistan. Drop the bomb! That would solve one of our problems there.
You say, “Talking about such stuff can get you killed.” Don’t threaten me with Heaven! I’m going to see my Lord and my Master, and I want to have something to lay at His feet when I stand before Him. I will not let the problems and the social structure of this world influence me. I’m on my way out of here!
Paul says:
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are [there is that word again] to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
“But God be thanked, that ye were [past tense] the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”—Rom. 6:14–18.
I was a bondslave to the world, the flesh and the Devil; then God saved me. I have a new Master now. Abe Lincoln and Martin Luther King didn’t set me free. The Supreme Court of the United States government did not set me free. The Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, set me free. I belong to Him. I’m a servant to Him. I’m a child of the King, King Jesus.
You may not like me, but that makes no difference. God made me. He stuck me behind my face. I don’t have to look at it. If you don’t like it, look someplace else. It’s a two-way street we are on. I don’t have to like you. You’re not all that good-looking either!
A man by the name of Philemon was a Christian, and he owned a slave by the name of Onesimus. Onesimus had stolen from him and had run away. He ran into a buzz saw, the Apostle Paul. He got saved. What’s he going to do now that he’s saved? Start a civil rights movement called NAACP?
By the way, you didn’t know this, but you will now. I’m going to confess it publicly. I have a lifetime membership in the NAACP—the National Association for the Advancement of Christian People. Amen!
In a lot of this stuff we call civil rights, the rights are not even civil. We have a bunch of guys who are sitting back manipulating and using that for their own selfish gain. I’m smart enough to know that the U.S. Supreme Court is not the most Supreme Court. My Supreme Court is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. When They meet, They are going to set things right!
The “Commission” Is a
Command!
God has given us a command. We call it the Great Commission. I think the reason a lot of us are not doing anything with it is that we call it a “commission.”
I was in the military three years, ten months, twenty-eight days and five hours. How do I remember it so well? They tried to kill me! You don’t forget that. There were guys who received battlefield commissions. You see one who is a sergeant today; thirty or ninety days later, he is a lieutenant, having received a battlefield commission.
But there were others to whom it was offered who refused to take it. No law can be passed to make one accept a battlefield commission.
I brought that over to my Christian life. The reason a lot of us are dragging our feet is that we call it a “commission.” You could accept it or reject it. But when God commands us to do something, we have no option but to obey. So we’re sitting back relaxed, saying, “It’s the Great Commission.” No, it’s the “Great Command.” Did Jesus say, “Whatsoever I commission you, do”? No. He said, “Do whatsoever I command you.”
I don’t know Greek and Hebrew, and I have a problem with English. I’m prejudiced to the old Authorized 1611 King James. These men come up with these new translations. A Bible out called the “Rapper’s Bible” is for black people only. I’m serious. I don’t need HIV-positive—I mean, the NIV. There’s no cure for either one! Give me another King James when I’ve gone through this one and this one has gone through me. Then I’ll need another one. But don’t rewrite it!
These guys say, “How did God preserve His Word?” I have no problem with that. They have a thing coming out now called the “openness of God.” They say, “God doesn’t know everything.” They say, “He has to wait for something to happen so He can determine what to do about it.”
That must be Allah; it surely isn’t the God of my Bible. The God of my Bible knows the end from the beginning. He inhabits eternity. Nothing catches God by surprise.
Paul, writing to Philemon, says, “Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ.” This ought to strike a note with Philemon because he had a slave. But Paul does not appeal to his friend Philemon out of his apostleship. He didn’t command a thing. This is a love letter.
“Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
“And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
“Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
“I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
“Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
“For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
“Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
“Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
“I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds.”—Philem. 1–10.
Paul affectionately calls him “my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds.” Paul is writing this epistle to his friend Philemon on behalf of a runaway slave, Onesimus.
“Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me.”—Vs. 11.
Glory! Hallelujah! I look back over my past life. I wasn’t profitable to anybody. I’m the oldest of seven children—five boys and two girls. I’m the one who is literally the black sheep in the family. I was the one most likely not to do anything. I was lost.
Because of my wife, I got saved. She got saved listening to Oliver B. Greene on the radio. Then I got saved watching my wife’s life. She didn’t worry me to death; she just prayed for me. I couldn’t figure out that woman. When I looked in her eyes, I could see the lights on, but there wasn’t anybody home in there. Oh, the way she loved me!
When I was getting ready to go out, she would lay out my clothes like a valet, kiss me at the door and say, “Have a good time. I’m praying for you.” That girl was playing the game, but she didn't have any marbles! Do you know what that was? Love!
I was in the Presbyterian church, singing in the choir, studying to become a Roman Catholic and a black militant. Was I messed up! I always go first-class! Don’t fool around. If you’re going, go all the way.
She said one thing: “It’s so easy to be saved.” That bothered me. I didn’t know what she meant, but I found out. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13). I called upon the name of the Lord. I was sitting in my living room. She was asleep. God lets some people go to sleep so that He can get His work done. She fell asleep sitting beside me. I heard John 3:16. That was it.
I got saved before I knew what the Romans Road was or where it was. I didn’t know anything about theology, eschatology, soteriology.
I got saved, then God called me to preach. I didn’t know anything about preaching. But I learned. Sitting by the radio, I listened to Oliver Greene, G. Christian Weiss, Ord Morrow, Theodore Epp, Donald Grey Barnhouse, Charles Fuller, M. R. DeHaan—the old greats. I worked for the federal government and got paid for listening to sound preaching on the radio eight hours a day!
Then we had meetings in the area. When a fellow came to the area, I wouldn’t just charge in. I would call and say, “Hey, I’m colored. Can I come to the meeting? If I can’t, I’ll pray for it.” “Come on, brother, and say ‘Amen.’”
I went. I looked like a fly in a bowl of milk in that crowd. Those preachers were waxing eloquent. I loved it! I thought, Where did all these guys come from?
When I got to the meeting, I looked around. I was so lonesome. I found myself a lot of times the only black man in those areas.
What was God doing? Shaping and molding my life and working in my heart. But I didn’t have smarts enough to know it. Then I found it out. Do you know how? He poked me through the small end of a funnel. Even when I started a church with black people, my own people, I had to fight them to teach them. They said, “This isn’t a black church. This isn’t black folks’ music. This is white folks’ music.”
I said, “Hey, what color is music? Everybody get a hymnbook. Open it. I don’t care which one you turn to. Look at the black notes on top of the white page. We’re singing in the black. That’s the way it’s going to be in here. We’re not going to have the jive in here. The rhythms of swinging monkeys, apes and gorillas aren’t going to be in here.”
The sad part is—and it breaks my heart—that now that kind of rubbish is coming into good, fundamental, independent Baptist churches. I call it “spear-chunking” music. When I hear that junk, I want to take off my clothes, put on a loincloth, paint my face and chunk spears at white folks. It doesn’t glorify God in any kind of way.
God help us! This business about “Give God a hand.” For what? The only hands He wants are yours. You don’t infiltrate and cooperate. You isolate yourself from that stuff because God insulates you.
They won’t invite me to their ministers’ association. They had me preach at our mayor’s prayer breakfast—one time. You see, our mayor is black, and somehow they got my name. “We want you to come preach for the mayor’s prayer breakfast. Give the invocation and benediction.”
I went and I preached! I said, “Before I give the invocation, let me say something.” I had them sit down, and I preached the hide off that crowd. I gave the Gospel and the invitation to accept Christ as personal Saviour. You could hear a pin fall on a bail of cotton in that meeting. They never had me back. I wonder why!
Paul, writing this letter, sent Onesimus right back where he came from. They were both saved—his master, the slave owner, and the slave. They were brethren. God tells us in His Word how to treat each other. Ephesians 6 tells us how the servant ought to submit himself to the master, or the supervisor, or whatever you call him, as serving the Lord.
While in one meeting, I asked, “How many of you regularly go to work late?” Several hands went up. I said, “If I knew where you worked, I’d call and tell your boss to give you your last check. You’re not worth the salt in your bread.”
What God did for us, He did in time and on time.
In my area, something is always going on. There might be a breakdown in a tunnel or a bridge torn up or a train going by. I used to sit in my car and fuss as I counted cars: “98, 99, 100, 101.” Do you know what I decided to do? Put my car in park, turn it off, put the key in my pocket, open the door and go to others waiting and pass out gospel tracts. They are not going anywhere but are waiting for three hundred cars coming right out of the mountains of West Virginia with all that coal.
Some of them are nervous; some are cussing; some radios are playing loud jungle music. As I pass out gospel tracts, I say, “Hey, turn that thing down!” or, “Read this while you wait.”
Some know me. “Hey, Brother Earls, how are you? You’re out here passing out tracts?”
“Yeah, what are you doing besides fuming?”
As a servant, I can do what I please, and all I want to do is to please my Lord and Master. If I can do that, how about you?
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our example. If we want to mimic somebody, it should be the Saviour! You and I can’t help but learn from each other, but don’t try to be like me. I’m not going to try to be like you. Let God use you right where you are. Be a good servant, a bondslave. It’s hard. God knows that already, but tell Him about it. He never said it would be easy, but He did say, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb. 13:5).Bring your prejudices to Him. I had to tell Him about mine. It was hard, but I said, “Lord, I still have some of that stuff in me from the old civil rights days and demonstrations.

God’s Simple Plan of Salvation
My Friend: I am asking you the most important question of life. Your joy or your sorrow for all eternity depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die?

God says in order to go to Heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again.”

In the Bible God gives us the plan of how to be born again which means to be saved. His plan is simple! You can be saved today. How?

First, my friend, you must realize you are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. “For the wages [payment] of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This includes eternal separation from God in Hell.

“ . . . it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

But God loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. “ . . . He hath made Him [Jesus, Who knew no sin] to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus had to shed His blood and die. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Lev. 17:11). “ . . . without shedding of blood is no remission [pardon]” (Hebrews 9:22).

“ . . . God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He became our substitute. It is true. God cannot lie.

My friend, “God . . . commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross.

In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: “ . . . ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . . .’ ”

Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12).

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved.

Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer.

In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Just pray: “Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.”

Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!

God’s simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.

You say, “Surely, it cannot be that simple.” Yes, that simple! It is scriptural. It is God’s plan. My friend, believe on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today.

If His plan is not perfectly clear, read this tract over and over, without laying it down, until you understand it. Your soul is worth more than all the world.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. Please! Let God save you this very moment.

God’s power will save you, keep you saved, and enable you to live a victorious Christian life. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Do not trust your feelings. They change. Stand on God’s promises. They never change. After you are saved, there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth:

Pray -- you talk to God.
Read your Bible -- God talks to you.
Witness -- you talk for God.
You should be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation, and then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay. “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord . . . .” (2 Timothy 1:8)

“Whosoever therefore shall confess [testify of] Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32).

My Babies Mama
I have a friend that works in law enforcement in a large Mid-Western city. In a conversation he was telling me that there is an element of our society that has all but given up on traditional marriage and families. Rather than husbands and wives or boyfriends and girlfriends, everyone is simply referred to as "my babies mama" or "my babies daddy".He told me of a situation in which he was talking with and women who had been physically abused by her"babies daddy", when confronted with the idea that she could choose to walk away from that lifestyle and the abusive man, when she said " the truth is that you have no choice of who your babies daddy is." When I heard that for the first time I just sat with a stunned look on my face, I could not believe what I was hearing. I asked my friend and he said it was true ... "You have no choice of who your babies daddy is".To try and cover all of the ways that this statement is just wrong boggles my mind! Let me touch on the thought that you have no choice in life but to have sex with every person you think you are attracted too. The idea that you have no choice! If you are not sexually active you do not run the risk of pregnancy. Abstinence works!Now before you start posting replies that I not being realistic, I know and understand that our society says that people should be free to express their physical desires as they please (and with who they please) and to place restrictions upon them in not fair, realistic or practical. Fine, that is what society says, but since when do we take our cues from modern society. As a Bible believing Christian, we take our cues from the Word of God! One man and one woman for a lifetime. Sex is a gift from God designed to be experienced within the bounds of marriage. Any deviation from the master plan is to head for trouble. The guidelines in the Word of God are there to protect us not keep us from enjoying life! Jesus said in John 10:10 that he came "that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." As our society continues to decay, the truth of the Word of God continues to shine even brighter. People are searching and desiring answers to the problems of life and we have the answers that seek. What are we doing to impact our sphere of influence? Would to God our lives would impact our communities, neighborhoods and our friends!

In an earlier article I asserted that true Christians, in their identification with Christ, should strive to live in holiness like Christ. This standard of holy, Christ‐like living necessarily assumes the existence of a kind of living that is unholy, unbecoming, and unfit for one who names Christ. I suggested that both kinds of living, holy and unholy, were deeply spiritual: living in the Spirit of Christ or living in the spirit of this age. While these two lifestyles are both deeply spiritual, they necessarily find objective expression in that which the Scripture calls, among other things, "fruit." What one truly believes and what one truly loves will be seen in how one actually behaves. In making these assertions, I alluded to a host of biblical texts that advance both the positive and negative, internal and external sides of Christ‐like holy living.
Having established the biblical premise, I suggested that in the realm of unholy living there are forms and styles of personal appearance, attire, speech, and so‐called "art" and "music" that are purposefully, clearly, and unmistakably anti‐Christian. These are forms and styles so imbued with godless antichristian content and character that they ought not be embraced in any wy by those who claim to be Christ’s. To associate oneself with such apparel, language, "art," and "music" is to disassociate oneself with Christ, his ethos and lifestyle. Further, I suggested that there are "places" that partake of the same nature and quality. These are places that have no real significance or essential purpose beyond the promotion and practice of antichristian lifestles and culture. Along with brothels, bars, nude beaches, drug dens, and nightclubs, I suggested that movie theaters be counted among these kinds of places. I forwarded the idea that to attend, much

less to frequent, any such place is, in my mind, as antichristian as the intrinsic purpose and practice of the place itself. To associate with that kind of place is to disassociate with Christ.
Avoiding the aforementioned kinds of appearances, types of speech, music styles, art forms, and places takes a measure of discernment, though it should take precious little discernment if one truly cares about holy living and a genuine, spiritually endowed Christ‐likeness. If some styles, forms, and places are indeed clearly and purposefully antichristian, as I have suggested, then how much discernment should it take to realize that Christians should avoid them? Unfortunately, in our world, some of us who profess association with Christ appear to be either horribly myopic or just plain spiritually care‐less.
But it is not always that simple. There are tangential issues. The problem here is that unmistakably antichristian forms and styles are not limited in practice to clearly antichristian placs, neither are they limited exclusively to godless settings and expressions. We all know that things that are clearly and unmistakably ungodly can so permeate society that they become mixed with the goodand, hence, become more difficult to recognize and, thus, to avoid. As lines become more indistinct and muddled, levels of discernment, value judgments, and personal and corporate behavioral postures become more and more complex. A bar may have no purpose or function as an establishment beyond that which is clearly antichristian, but what about liquor stores? What about grocery stores with liquor sections? What about eating establishments that serve alcoholic beverages? What about the use of alcohol as a medicine? The "list" is unending. The more unholiness permeates our world, the more complex becomes the issue of discerning and avoiding that which is unholy.
Consider again the movie theater. It is one thing to attend the cinema. It is quite another to bring the cinema home. The issue, then, is no longer clearly the "place." The issue mutates to levels of "place" and ultimately, to questions of the "thing" itself. With regard to levels of "place," where does one acquire a movie to watch at home (or to watch anywhere else, for that matter)? Is a video store whose only purpose is to sell and rent movies for private viewing to be counted as a clearly ungodly "place" and thus always to be avoided? What if those same videos are offered for rent in a small corner of the grocery store or in a kiosk at McDonalds or on a shelfin the public library? And then there is the movie itself. Here again, it is not actually the physical "thing" anymore than it was the physical "place." There is nothing intrinsically wrong with putting images, dialog, and sound effects on film and playing them back. The problem centers on that which is depicted and spoken, viewed and heard, suggested and glamorized.
If professing Christians are not exclusively attending "good" movies in the theater, what do you suppose they are watching at home? Do we who name Christ view in private that which we condemn in public? Do we allow into our homes, by means of this medium (or any other), behaviors, language, images, and ideas that we would never allow to be expressed in our homes by our children or our guests? How much profanity and God‐cursing is acceptable in a movie? How much sex and innuendo? How much immorality? How much violence? Can we begin to imagine that we are wholly unaffected by watching and listening to these offences to God day after day and wee after week? Should we not learn, rather, to be offended like God? What makes a movie "good"? Is it the ratings of people who warn us of its content? Or is it conformity to the nature and revelation of the one and only true God? In a fallen world, where that which is good may be tainted by or even permeated with that which is evil, where do we draw our lines? When
it comes to varying degrees of moral pollution, the answers may not always be simple. But are they really all that difficult? Perhaps we do not ask the right questions. Maybe we really don’t want the answers. Is it possible that we might actually fail in having our senses exercised to discern both good and evil? And worse yet, could it ever be that we might turn our liberty into libertinism and then spend our days attempting to justify our carnality?
It is one thing for ungodliness to infiltrate and permeate society. It is quite another thing for ungodliness to infiltrate and permeate a Christian and Christian society. True Christians cannot love God supremely and, at the same time, embrace the world and the things in the world. Genuine Christians who are wholly conformed to Christ cannot also be partially conformed to the world. Does not God plead for our conformity to Christ? Were we not redeemed for the purpose of growing unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ? Has God not chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before him?
In a world where lines between holiness and unholiness become more and more muddled, which Christians are most adequately able to practice genuine holy Christian living? First and foremost, they must not merely be "professing" believers, but true believers impregnated with genuine spiritual life. They must also be believers in whom the person of the Holy Spirit resides ungrieved and in whom the power of the Holy Sprit buns unquenched. These are Christians who, through diligent examination and practiced contemplation of the Word of God, strive with all assiduity to know intimately and, thus, to fear soberly the holy God of Scripture. They want nothing more than to grow in singular love for their singular God. They want nothing less than to live in a way that wholly honors and perfectly pleases a God who really does care about their eery thought and deed. These are men and women of God who are becoming so like Christ that they truly love only the things that he loves, and truly despise all of the things that he hates. When all is said and done, this kind of Christian will actually wrestle less and less with the minute and mundane questions of marginal living. For the closer we draw to the vividly clear and perfectly revealed center of divine holiness, the less we need to concern ourselves with the indistinct and muddled lines of the margins. 􀀿

I was aghast to read Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle's response to a question from the New York Times columnist John Tierney, "How long will blacks vote for a party that opposes the voucher programs they strongly favor?"
Doyle's response: "I don't think this is an issue that moves voters."
The discussion took place in context of the Democrat governor's opposition to moves to expand the number of vouchers available in the immensely popular and successful school-choice program in Wisconsin.

In a recently released Zogby poll, only 3 percent of respondents, with barely any difference between Democrats and Republicans, listed "Education/Schools" as the two top issues facing the country.
Maybe Doyle is right. After all, getting elected is his business. But mine is writing about what I think is important. From a black perspective, education is critically important.
Specifically, I think hope for the future of America's black community hinges on education and whether we can succeed in getting school choice implemented nationally.
Why?
Here's the logical progression. Poverty persists disproportionately in the black community. Education, which correlates perfectly and positively with earning power, is the antidote to poverty. Key to breaking the cycle of poverty is getting black kids educated.
But this is not happening. Inner-city black kids drop out of school at alarmingly high rates, and those who make it through are finishing with poor skills.
Another powerful correlation with earning power is family. Higher income families are disproportionately households headed by a married couple. Poor households are disproportionately headed by single parents.
Based on 2002 Census data, of all children living in families earning $75,000 per year and over, 90 percent are in families headed by a married couple. Of all children living in families earning $15,000 per year and less, 75 percent are living in families headed by single parent.
As of 2000, according to the Census Bureau, about 63 percent of black families were headed by a single parent and 26 percent of white families were headed by a single parent.
Kay Hymowitz of the Manhattan Institute, in a recent article, shows the link between education, economics and traditional families.
Despite the hoopla about the new independent woman, Hymowitz reports that 90 percent of women with a college degree get married prior to having children. This is true of only 64 percent of women with 9 to 14 years of education.
Hymowitz concludes that the real "gap" in the country is a "marriage gap." There are indeed two Americas. One revolves around traditional family, is more educated and populates the higher income portion of the spectrum. The other revolves around broken families, is poorly educated, and populates the lower end of the income spectrum.
Of course, it's not clear whether more education produces stable families or vice versa.
But looking at the situation of blacks, it doesn't matter. It's a mess across the board. Kids are not getting educated and families are largely not intact.
Back to education and school choice.
Blacks must get their children educated if the economic picture is going to change, but it should be clear this challenge is multiplied by the fact that black kids are starting out overwhelmingly from families that are already broken.
Those that argue for school choice correctly make the case that competition produces better products, whether we're talking about computers or schools.
But in addition to the benefits of competition, it is inordinately important that single black mothers have the option of sending their kid to a school where the educational culture is defined by traditional values. This is not the case with public schools.
How much can be expected from a single, poor mother who must compete with a prevailing popular culture that conveys meaningless and relativism to her kid, and then must compete with a school system the conveys the same? This mother should, and must, have the option of sending her child to a school that teaches traditional values.
Schools can and must play a vital link in helping to break the cycle of kids from poor, broken families going on to create more poor, broken families.
It is ironic that a country that rejects the idea of imposing values on others maintains a monolithic public school system that does just that.

Politicians who pay lip service to the growing gap in incomes and the plight of our growing poor, black population must appreciate that this problem is first and foremost a crisis of freedom and values.
I suggest that no black American cast a vote for any candidate of either party that does not support school choice.

He recommends dismantling public education and using only taxes from blacks to pay for freedmen’s schools. Wells also wants to build new levees, a new capital building and penitentiary, but he is ignored by the legislature which elects U. S. In 40 yr of life I can not think of one thing the NAACP has done for black folks.
What I do know is that they taking in lost of money and have said a lot of dumb stuff.

Thank you so much for writing WorldNetDaily.com to express your opinions about our work, editorial policies, etc.! I am always thrilled to hear the thoughts of our readers.
You are so right – America and its life of luxury and consumption is headed for collapse unless we have a dramatic revolution of the mind and heart in this self-motivated, self-absorbed, self-righteous nation. There is a scripture, Proverbs 30:11-14 that says this:
"There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men."
You know, every month I read that on the 30th. I always think of my dear country and the tragic path we are taking. However, I do not think of the good men and women who devote their lives to making our country and world a better place. To be sure, there are many who preach their own goodness and all the while are thinking of new devices for evil and deception. That is not what we do here. You may disagree with our editorial policy and even most of the content that we publish while still understanding that we seek to do what is right as we look to God for our direction.
Are you part of the "Christian circles" that you claim have seen through our deception? I wonder how a "Christian" like you could be so deceived as to spew the invective that you do in this letter. Love your enemy? It doesn't sound like you take that advice well. We are called to have judgment and to identify evil men, expose their deceit and to separate ourselves from them – at least in a spiritual way. We are never called to love men and their ideologies over truth. Paul, John and Jesus proved that an ample number of times. Many times, Jesus had to speak very strongly:
"Get thee hence," Jesus said to Peter. He called some of his followers "fools and slow of heart to believe." He called others vipers.
John told us not to accept into our homes any teacher who espouses false doctrine. He tells us we are not even to bid them Godspeed because we become a "partaker of his evil deeds." 2 John 7-11.
In 3rd John he mentions by name someone in the church who espouses wrong ideas – Paul does the same.
Paul called to account Peter who, for a time, was preaching a false doctrine. He said he "did not walk uprightly according to the truth of the gospel." Galatians 2:14
If you read your Bible, you will see that God condemns those who will bring in false doctrine in the latter times: doctrines like the paganistic theories of global warming (junk science) initiated to usher in a new level of government oppression of free nations and suppression of the poor who would, besides the people United States, be the class of people most quickly destroyed by this U.N./one-world government project. When you persecute the poor and needy you mess with the LORD, Mr. Smith:
"He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor." Psalms 72:4;
"Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy." Psalms 82:3; "Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked." Psalms 82:4;
"He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor." Proverbs 14:31;
"Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished." Proverbs 17:5.
Hate Muslims? No, we hate the violent man who hates God and His wisdom:
"But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death." Proverbs 8:36;
"The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate." Proverbs 8:13;
"Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment." Psalms 73:6;
"There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 16:25;
"The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth." Psalms 11:5.
Back to the junk science of the latter times: Supposedly oil is a fossil fuel made up of decomposing animals, mostly dinosaurs who are millions and millions of years old (after all, the earth has been around for millions, no hundreds of millions, no billions, no tens of billions of years …). This brand of science has been falsified for years: lime, coal, oil, diamonds, fossils, stalactites and even whole islands can be created in a matter of years, sometimes weeks.
Global warming has been falsified since the beginning of this vain, simplistic and speculative notion. Every premise on which it is based has been soundly debunked. Weather cycles up and down and will continue to do so as long as this earth is in existence. But don't forget this:
We know that in the end times there will be people who are "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7) and "that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, …who are willingly are ignorant of" scientific things about nature. (2 Peter 3:3-6) and who espouse "science falsely so called" (2 Timothy 6:10). You know, God commands us not to be "spoiled through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." (Colossians 2:8)
I understand if you find our reporting and editorial policy repugnant that you might have to leave off reading news here, but I thank you again for sharing your thoughts and beliefs with us.
